Summer Camp
An international summer camp for students grades 6-12.
Students attending the PDA Summer Camp will work with nationally recognized instructors, collaborate with peers who challenge them academically, and make experiences that will help them become better students, debaters, and citizens.
Our summer camp is an incredible learning opportunity for students of all levels and backgrounds – whether you hope to become a more confident speaker or be the next national champion!
Find the Right Camp Experience for Your Child
Every student’s goals are different; that’s why our summer camps aren’t one-size-fits-all. Potomac Debate Academy offers two distinct tracks designed to meet students where they are — whether they’re aiming for national titles or building foundational confidence.
Competitive Track
For students who are eager to compete at tournaments and sharpen their Public Forum debate skills. This track provides the structure and rigor to help new and experienced debaters take their debating to the next level.
Skill-Building Track
For students who want to enjoy the benefits of debate without the pressure of competition. Whether your student is exploring debate for the first time or prefers a non-competitive experience, this track is the perfect place to grow, learn, and have fun.

Benefits of Debate
Public Speaking & Logical Reasoning Skills
Debate turns students into confident, effective public speakers, as well as stronger interpersonal communicators. It strengthens one’s logical reasoning, critical thinking, research and writing skills, and more.
Better Standardized Test Scores
Studies show that students who engage in debate do better on standardized tests, including the SAT and ACT.
Stronger Academic Performance
Studies also show that students who debate have higher grades in school, on average.
Higher College Admission Chances
Colleges love to see debate listed on a student application. It shows them that the applicant is passionate about something outside of school, has strong public speaking skills, and is well-versed in current events.

camp experience
Our approach to camp is unique in that it embraces both truths by tailoring the experience to meet the needs of the students, rather than being a one-size-fits all camp: We offer two tracks that students can choose from.
